What to do in March: Calçot and Calçotada

The calçot is a type of spring onion from Catalonia. Especially in spring – to celebrate their harvest – there is the tradition called the Calçotada.

The spring onions are grilled over a hot fire. Then after having wrapped them up in newspaper they are served and eaten with bare hands. You peel and dip them one by one in romesco sauce. Serve red wine and bread with them!

Bona apetit!
