Join this special Gaudí experience! Learn about modernism and the most famous Catalan architect during a two hours walk. Have your personal hands-on experience in Angelika´s workshop where you will create your own souvenir in Gaudí´s mosaic style.

What is Modernism? Why did it develop? Why does the roof of Casa Batlló look like the back of a dragon? Why was a bat decisive in a battle? We will answer these questions during the walk along the famous Gaudí houses and the old town. Discover more buildings by contemporary architects from that era. Get to know Barcelona’s history and legends while strolling through the maze of little streets in the Born district.

The walk will lead us to Angelika´s workshop where you will learn the technique named “Trencadís”. As you will have discovered during the walk, this technique – using materials such as shards of glass, ceramics or mirrors – can be found on Gaudí´s work. After a short introduction she will show you the basics, handling of tools and how to create your first masterpiece such as a refrigerator magnet or the top of a box.

This experience will leave you with an unforgettable memory and a unique reminder of your trip to Barcelona. Feel like Gaudí during this walk and workshop!

When I arrived in Barcelona over 30 years ago, I was deeply impressed by Gaudí’s works. That is why I specialized in mosaic art and offered classes at my workshop in El Born. In 2016, the President of Catalonia presented me with my master craftsman’s certificate in recognition of my skills, and I thus became an ambassador for Catalan traditions.

Ideal for corporate groups as well

As a team building exercise it is possible to create your company´s logo in Gaudí’s mosaic technique. For this we would nee to add another hour. It is a great souvenir for the office and a great memory of the time that your team spent in Barcelona.

What to bring

Bring comfortable walking shoes for a walk of approximately 1.5 miles / 2.5 km.

In case of rainy weather please bring an umbrella.
