We are very happy about being featured by Grupotel Hotels & Resorts. This renowned hotel chain owns 46 hotels in Spain that are not only located in Barcelona but also in Mallorca, Minorca, Ibiza, Madrid, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. This way they rank among the leading Spanish hotel chains. They are characterised by their exceptional service and deep passion for hospitality. Grupotel Hotels & Resorts embodies the essence of their Mediterranean heritage.
In autumn 2024 we were approached by Grupotel to feature one of our very special experiences that fits perfectly to their offering: where families enjoy unforgettable holidays. “Feel like Gaudí” combines an architectural tour with a hands-on experience in Gaudís mosaic style called “Trencadís”. This is ideal for both adults and children.
In the following you can read the feature of Grupotel:
Grupotel Hotels & Resorts in Barcelona: Architecture tour with mosaic workshop – Immerse yourself in Gaudí’s world
A house without right angles. A roof like a dragon’s back. Walls full of colorful mosaic artwork. The Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí has had a significant impact on the cityscape of the Spanish metropolis Barcelona to this day. During the tour “Feel like Gaudí” , those who are interested immerse themselves in the world of modernism – accompanied by exciting facts and adventurous legends told by the guides Michael Meyer and Christian Heide from Dortmund. After the walking tour guests will create their own Gaudí-style souvenir in a mosaic workshop. Guests staying at one of the two Grupotel Hotels & Resorts in Barcelona can reach the starting point of the tour by foot.
In the footsteps of Gaudí
The “Feel like Gaudí” tour from The Barcelona Feeling combines an architectural city tour with a creative workshop. The maximum of six participants will discover some of the most famous buildings by the architect Gaudí as well as other important representatives of Modernism, which developed as an independent art, culture and architectural movement in Catalonia from around 1885 to 1920. The walking tour starts with a stroll along the magnificent Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, where the richest families in the Catalan capital had built their residences. Today, Gaudí’s Casa Batlló with its shimmering dragon roof and Casa Milá with its wave-like stone facade, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are located there. The second stage takes visitors to Barcelona through the labyrinth of alleys in the old town. On the way they pass the Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall and the Casa Martí with the artist café “Els 4 Gats”, where Picasso’s first solo exhibition took place. The walk ends in the studio of master craftswoman Angelika Heinbach. After an introduction to Gaudí’s “Trencadís” technique, participants create their own mosaic work using broken ceramics and broken glass, for example they create a magnet or a jewelry box. The three-hour tour including workshop costs €54 to €69 per person, depending on the group size. The reception teams at both Grupotel hotels can assist guests with any bookings.
Check in and discover Barcelona
